Impact of Comprehensive Primary Care in Patients With Complex Chronic Diseases: Nationwide Cohort Database Analysis in Korea

Using 2002-2019 Korean health-insurance data on 24,906 adults with at least two chronic conditions, this study found that patients attending functional primary care offices (providing broad, coordinated care) had lower all-cause (HR 0.94) and cardiovascular (HR 0.91) hospitalisation risks than those visiting specialised offices. Rates for individual conditions were similar, underscoring the need to strengthen functional primary care for complex chronic disease.
