Centre for
Healthcare, Knowledge & Innovation (CHKI)
Healthy North Coast, delivering the North Coast Primary Health Network , established the Centre for Healthcare Knowledge & Innovation (CHKI) to create space for learning and reflection beyond day-to-day service delivery. It’s proudly supported by a growing network of partners who recognise that reform doesn’t happen in isolation. These include:
✔️ Primary Health Networks working to improve system integration, data-driven planning, workforce innovation, and health equity
✔️ Universities committed to translational research, workforce development, and public value
✔️ Community service organisations focused on co-design, service innovation, and community-led impact
Through the work of CHKI, Healthy North Coast brings people together to spark fresh thinking on system response and reform. The urgency is growing, especially in a region like North Coast NSW, where some of Australia’s most intense and compounding climate risks are already being felt. At CHKI, we recognise environment as a cross-cutting determinant in every health conversation and believe environmental resilience must become core business for health. That’s why it’s embedded in every CHKI conversation, not as a standalone theme, but as part of the complex reality shaping health systems today.
With our partners, we invite health professionals, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders to explore real-world reform – through online conversations, learning journeys, and face-to-face events. Let’s learn from each other and move reform forward.
WHAT WE DO
We build a phase into the reform journey
dedicated to open dialogue.
✔️ We surface stories of real-world innovation – not polished case studies, but honest accounts of what’s working, what’s stuck, and where momentum is building.
✔️ We contextualise ideas – helping people understand how insights from elsewhere might apply in their own setting.
✔️ We create cross-sector exchange – breaking down silos between health, research, policy, and community practice.
✔️ We spark inquiry – through events and learning experiences that encourage people to pause, question, and reimagine what’s possible.
Health reform doesn’t happen all at once. It unfolds in stages – from recognising challenges, to exploring what’s possible, to testing and scaling change. We sit at the crucial stage between insight and action.
