Independent Review of the APS: Priorities for Change

In May 2018, the Australian Government commissioned an independent panel to review the APS to ensure it is fit-for-purpose for the coming decades. The panel was asked to set out an ambitious transformation program and to guide and drive future public sector reforms. The panel will deliver its findings and recommendations to the Prime Minister in mid 2019. This report reflects what the panel learned and what changes it believes are needed to build an APS that is fit for the future. Part I summarises the APS today, the challenges and opportunities it is facing, and the panel's aspiration for the APS’s transformation. Part II sets out our current thinking on the priorities for change, and some of the initiatives the panel are considering to help deliver this change. © Commonwealth of Australia, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, APS Review: Priorities for change
